From Aug 11 to 15, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore jointly held the International Competence Training Program. Thirty mid-level management staff from HUST’s departments, schools, and affiliated units took part in the intensive program, seeking to learn how a world-class university is governed and study their innovative practices.

Nanyang Center for Public Administration designed a tailored curriculum covering international development strategies, new engineering education, innovation and entrepreneurship training, research management, student affairs, and the integration of AI and education. Twelve experts and eleven NTU department heads contributed lectures, case studies, and exchange sessions.

The training blended classroom teaching, case analysis, field visits, and interactive seminars. Participants engaged in lively discussions and on-site research at NTU’s facilities, including The Hive, Arc, Innovation Port, Gaia, and the university library. They explored topics ranging from innovative learning spaces and entrepreneurial ecosystems to student support services and administrative reform.

On Aug 13, HUST participants held in-depth exchanges with NTU representatives across seven themes, including educational technology, HR management, international cooperation, campus planning, alumni relations, and library services.

The program aimed to broaden global perspectives, enhance international management capacity, and implement helpful practices to support HUST’s goal of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
