Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) hosted the 2025 Global Alumni Association Presidents’ Conference on Nov 14, bringing together presidents and secretaries from regional and industry alumni associations worldwide. The conference was presided over by Zhang Tao, vice chair of the university committee.

Liu Bo, chair of the university committee, highlighted the achievements made over the past year in expanding HUST’s alumni network, deepening engagement, and enhancing global platforms. She emphasized the university’s commitment to integrating alumni work into its broader development strategy, empowering alumni across all stages, and strengthening the cohesion and influence of the worldwide network.

Dai Zejian, director of the Office of Alumni Affairs, presented the work report and introduced two major initiatives, including the alumni partner program, which includes the creation of the “1037” cultural and sports brand matrix and city-industry alumni forums. Dai also proposed five key action plans, with alumni supporting the university’s development in student growth, frontier research, talent development, and smart campus construction.

Representatives from Beijing, Wuhan, Zhejiang, and the UK alumni associations shared insights and experience in alumni engagement.

The winners of the 2025 Global Alumni Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition in both the growth and startup categories were announced, with awards presented by Liu Bo and Yan Zhongxing, Party secretary of Wuhan’s Hongshan district.

Three roundtable forums followed, with over 20 alumni leaders and university officials discussing topics including talent cultivation, employment and admissions, international collaboration, and technology innovation and transfer, highlighting alumni’s vital role in advancing HUST’s global mission.
