The 2025 Annual Conference of the Sino-German Consortium on Medical Research and Education, along with the International Forum on "AI-Driven Transformation of New Paradigms in Medical Education", was held in Wuhan on Nov 13. Hosted by Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), the event brought together over a hundred experts, scholars, faculty members, and student representatives from Chinese and German universities. Participants explored how AI is reshaping medical education and discussed ways to enhance innovation and deepen Sino-German education.

AI is reshaping both the scope and substance of medical education. The conference emphasized that medical institutions from China and Germany, each with distinct strengths, should make full use of the consortium platform to enhance international cooperation, collaborative research, and AI-integrated medical education.

Representatives from Chinese and German universities noted the long-standing cooperation between the two countries in medical education. They expressed hopes that the forum would further advance the discussion on AI-enabled teaching and training.

At the main forum, experts from leading institutions in both countries shared perspectives on integrating AI more deeply into medical education, drawing on their institutional practices and research experiences.

Parallel sessions gathered additional scholars from nine universities, who exchanged ideas on how AI is transforming educational models and creating new teaching ecosystems.

In the concluding session, the forum was described as forward-looking and impactful, with the experts' insights providing fresh momentum for the digital and intelligent transformation of medical education.

A special session on studying and conducting research in Germany was also held at Tongji Medical College during the event. Organized by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Peking in collaboration with partner universities, the session offered lectures and on-site consultations covering Germany’s higher education system, admission procedures, and scholarship opportunities.

The Sino-German Consortium on Medical Research and Education, established in 2022 by HUST and Heidelberg University, along with several partner institutions, aims to strengthen exchanges in medical education and talent training and to support research on medical education reform.
